Our Times Coffeehouse
Feb 19 2010 at 08:00pm in the EHSLI building
Our Times Coffeehouse will be on Friday, February 19 at 8:00pm. Come hear the great blues singer/songwriter Pat Wictor and enjoy the sound of smooth blues. WPKN FM Says – “If you can make it to only one concert this year, let it be a show by Brooklyn’s own Pat Wictor, who plays heart-felt blues-based roots music like the only begotten son of Bonnie Raitt (same red hair!) and Chris Smither. And unlike blues interpreters who have seen too many stormy Mondays with hellhounds on their trail, Pat is also an excellent songwriter whose new/old compositions will send you on a journey through the old Dock Boggs and Son House 78s. But these aren’t old songs, they’re originals that, to paraphrase Mr. Smither, are “still flopping around on the deck.” For more information visit their website at www.ourtimescoffeehouse.org.

Opera Group Meeting
Feb 26 2010 at 07:30pm in the EHSLI building
The Opera Group will meet at 7:30pm on Friday, February 26. The topic for the evening is MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF GREAT ARIAS. In the past, Mel has played various singers doing the same aria. Some of the singers, he thought, did not sing as well as the others. Tonight, he will play singers performing the same aria who are, to his taste, equally first-rate. You’ll hear tenors, sopranos, basses and baritones. He will be playing many famous arias that you are sure to enjoy. For more information contact Mel Haber at 718-279-3143.
