Web Editor's Note: In the year 2000, the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island celebrated its 50th anniversary. A journal was published to celebrate the event. Among the articles of the journal, one contained the history of the Society. The article was divided in chapters, each depicting one of the five decades of the Society's history.
