‘Sing in the New Year’ with The Royal Yard
Before the Victorian era, New Year’s Eve was a bigger celebration than Christmas! It was celebrated with gifts and gatherings, music and merriment, cakes and ales (much like it is now) – but people in their homes and pubs helped make the music themselves!
The Royal Yard (Robin Greenstein and Stuart Markus), Long Island’s favorite sea chantey duo, will lead you in rollicking pub songs and songs for New Year’s, spanning from the 1700s to the 1960s; some of which you’ll know, some of which you’ll enjoy getting to know – and all of which were meant for a chorus of amateur voices. Come prepared to sing along!
The evening begins with an open mic at 7:30, with the feature performers starting between 8:15-8:30 PM
