Ken Feifer: How Healthcare Has Changed

Ken and Susan Feifer have been members of the Long Island Ethical Humanist Society since 1981.  Over the years we have relied on both of them to inform us about a variety of topics related to healthcare as well as Susan’s unique work with justice-involved individuals.

Ken will be speaking to us today about the topic How Healthcare Has Changed.  For the past twenty-five years Ken has worked for the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  He served as Mount Sinai’s Associate Hospital Director for its solid organ transplant programs.

Since 2005 he has fulfilled the role of Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer for the faculty and staff working at the two public hospitals in Queens—Elmhurst Hospital Center and Queens Hospital Center.  Being on the front lines during COVID we often relied on Ken to interpret what was going on and how we might remain safe.

Ken stopped working full time for Mount Sinai at the end of 2021 but at the request of the institution he remains under contract working part-time as the Emeritus Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer.

Ken also has an academic life and serves as an Adjunct Professor at several area institutions and online programs including the New York Institute of Technology, the College of Westchester, and the University of Arizona.

We are looking forward to hearing Ken’s remarks on changes in healthcare.
